Unusual Italian Mark 800 wheel in a wheel

Post by SwissSilverBuff »

I have a set of three candle sticks all marked 800 but 2 have what appears to be the post 1968 Italian mark (5-pointed star, number 176 and FI) presumably Florence. The third candle stick though has only a unique "wheel in a wheel" stamp without the star, number FI stamp which the others have.

They are clearly a set of indentical candle sticks but I would love to know why one has the different mark and what that mark represents.

Any ideas?

Curiously the pattern on the edges is identical to those of a 800 silver coffee pot I have from Vienna from the 20s.

Thanks

S

Hi,

If the Italian registration is 176 FI, then it is a product of the firm of Ermindo Pampaloni of Firenze.

Thanks for the information. But the other mark? Strange that they don't all have the same marks.

This is an old thread, but I have been doing some research on this firm and have spoken with the factory in Florence this year via an interpreter. One thing is clear, this is a highly collectible maker.
