Help with Maker

Post by nickcox »

Hello,

I am trying to find out more about this table lighter and, in particular, who the maker is? any ideas ? I think it dates to 1940 and was produced in Amsterdam. The hallmarks appear to say GJPC

Regards

Nick

Hi Nick,

Indeed year letter F for 1940, Minerva head, regional assay office letter A=Amsterdam.

Maker's mark 6JPC for: Fa. Jansen Post & Cocx, with this particular mark registered in Amsterdam 1936-1954. In business today:

The decoration depicts Rembrandt's 'The Night Watch'.
