I've been picking up stuff from an estate of a dealer that went out of business in the 1980s. There's been some cool finds but a lot of the stuff isn't identified correctly. I got a bunch of these buckles/clasps and they were marked "18th Century" but I have no clue as to country of origin or age. This looks like a lion's or feline head to me facing left with the tongue out but it doesn't look like a Britannia mark. There is an "A" on the left and a "T" on the right. I don't like to bother anyone if I can do the research myself but without a country of origin I have no place to start. Does this look familiar to anyone? Apologies for the image but that's the best I could do.
This look like a Lion's Head to you?
Re: This look like a Lion's Head to you?
Hi,
Letter ``A`` on the left stands for Vienna assay office and there is number ``4`` on the right (not letter T). That`s .750 fineness.
