Retailer, Designer or someone else??

Post by SusanWhite »

Hi, Everybody!

Now, I've actually figured this one out on my own with the maker's mark and even when it wasn't properly oriented [inspired by Patrick's talent, I am hoping to get better at this] ... but there's a stamp at the top of the bowl near the handle and we don't know if it's a designer, retailer or maybe a monogram.

It's a grapefruit spoon by F. W. Smith ... any opinions about the identity of S.E. Ledman would be appreciated!

Sincerely,
Susan

I think S.E. Ledman was a retailer located in Louisville, Kentucky (c. 1860-1870).

Samuel E Ledman who was born in August of 1834 in Ohio is listed as a retail jeweler in Louisville, Kentucky at least until 1910.
