OK, I'm confused. Relative novice in Mexican silver and I purchased something this weekend and I'm not sure what it is. I have a set of 12 heavy glasses (Champaign Style) in Sterling Silver. Each weighs about 6 Troy Ounces. The mark is Margo De Mexico. I asked a couple of dealers I know that sell silver and they assumed it was Margot De Taxco. Can't find anything on the internet and the one book I have on Mexican marks (just slightly better than useless) looks like it lists Margo De Mexico as a different person than Margot De Taxco but the book is so bad it's unclear if it is a different person or same person at a different time/phase of their career. I don't believe it is but I'd love some more info on this maker so I can narrow down a time frame or some more info. Can anyone enlighten me?
Right, I figured as much. Honestly would just be too good to be true. Hoping I can get some info on Margo de Mexico. Can't find anything online other than a couple of dishes with that stamp, nothing on the maker.
So that's what I was trying to find out. Pieces that are marked "Margo de Mexico" are done by Margot van Voorhies? The same person that also marked their pieces "Margot de Taxco"? If yes, great! If not, trying to find out who the other one (not the well documented Margot van Voorhies) is.
I don't count myself as much of an expert, but if these pieces were mine, I'd want to see as much Margo de Taxco work as possible for a comparison. I lean towards them being from her shop.
