Possible Augsburg dish - wine taster - or Hanau?

Post by mackeonis50 »

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have an opinion on the marks on this shallow dish (wine taster?) It measures 8" by 5" by 1" and has two marks; a pine cone with 6 dots and a crown. I cant see an Augsburg that matches so i am thinking Hanau, but the scene is not typical of any other Hanau dish that I have seen.

Something else that I have not seen before is that the handles a a low quality gold and could have been added later.

Thanks in advance.

I now have reason to believe that this is South American as the handles are 'tumbaga,' a gold, copper and silver alloy favored in his part of the world.
