I purchased this at an antique store today. I bought it because I had no clue what it is. The tips are definitely sterling but that's all I know. I dont know what langauge or what it is used for. There is now hallmarks that I see. It looks like a small (kids) cane. I don't think they would use sterling for a kids cane. I really have no clue. Thank you for you help.
Please help me figure out what this is.

Possibly a swagger stick or pointer.

Could be a calendar stick. Numbers 1-7 indicate week days and then you can calculate something based on that. Might be from India or some other Asian country. Numbers 1-7 are clearly European style and so is the stick apart from the decoration so my guess would be that it's from the colonial time and made for some European official to be some kind of a staff of authority (or just a souvenier). But this is just speculation and I might be wrong.

Has a repeating rotating pattern. Begin 4, X, Blank, 2, 1. Shifts one space to right as you go down 1 to 5, then repeats again at 6 to 7. Same pattern reads top to bottom in columns. So where would you need a 5x5 array? And 7 could be hours, days, months, or years.
