This is a tea tray measuring 21 1/2" by 16 1/2". I am not sure if the 1797 is a date or just a hallmark, if Austrian? Is the silver content 800? It was sold as Austrian but I am not very familiar with the early marks so I am guessing.
Austrian tea tray marked 1797
Re: Austrian tea tray marked 1797
Hello!
I don't think, it's from central european.
Most likely Spanish, or Portuguese.
Best regards!

Estimado emaliek,

FORGIVE THE LANGUAGE
Dear emaliek,
It is a Spanish piece exactly from the city of Cádiz. This city is represented by the figure of Hercules between two lions. The silversmith is going to be A. Díaz (if with Z at present) of which I do not know his trajectory and the other brand is very confused, it could be ARE / NAS but I'm not sure.
