Gorham... Coin Silver? Confused on the mark

Hi,
I have this covered tureen and thought it was silverplate, until I started researching the mark... now
I believe it may be coin silver but I am unsure.
Any help and history is appreciated! The Gorham history is a bit confusing as far as marks. This piece also has like a six pointed sun/star mark.
