Unknown Commercial Crest - 1

Post by dognose »

Hi,

Does anyone recognise this, presumably, shipping line logo?:

Image

A blue star over the letters 'HSA' or 'NSA'. It does not appear to be the Blue Star Line as their flag differs.

Noted on a Walker & Hall basting spoon with the year letter for 1922:

Any thoughts appreciated.

“S” is more than likely to be the last letter for Shipping or Steamship (or non-English versions), so HA or NA could be the actual company (or the shortened version (like Hamburg-Amerika Lign from the original NASM). And it might only be used on service items rather than the literature or flags. These are always tricky.

This may well be the house flag of the Bristol City Line:

Charles Hill & Sons being the owners (H A S - Hill and Sons ?)
