Two hallmarks on a ring ?

I think I have a ring with I think two seperate hallmarks. It's a ladies rose gold wedding band.

From what I can make out it's H-A 9 .375 anchor D, which I make out as Henry Hyde Aston, 9 karat? (the 9 stamp) 37.5 % pure (implies 9 karat), Birmingham, 1852, although H-A wasnt registered until 1862

Then second stamp could be castle u 9 .375. I'm not so sure about the castle - it doesn't really look like one, but it's the closest assay office symbol that fits. Is it a rotated 9? I'm not sure what the date of the u is.

Hi,

That's great. What you have is 9ct. gold ring made by H. Aston Ltd. and assayed at Birmingham in 1928. The ring was then imported into Ireland and re-assayed at Dublin in the same year.

So, the "castle" is the M type Dublin assay office stamp? Does that mean it was bought in Ireland?

Yes, the symbol does have a proper name, but it escapes me for the moment. It was used on imported items only. It was marked thus to be offered for sale in the Irish Free State, as it was named at the time.
