Dutch maker ES

Post by idarf »

This nicely decorated mocha or demitasse spoon measures about 10 cms and 5 grams, and is marked with the small sword (1814-1905) and the maker's mark; "ES".
Any information on the zilversmid, the age, the town or just about anything else about this spoon would be appreciated!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Maker's mark ES underlined in a hexagon for H.L. Swarte, (Erven) heir of J.J.A Swarte, registered in Groningen 1871-1906. The silversmith Johannes Josephus Antonius Swarte was active in Groningen 1851 till he passed away in 1869, at the age of 47.
