Does anyone have info on Scovills & Buckingham? I am primarily just curious whether these are nickel silver or coin silver. I see many auctions online listing their wares as coin silver but from my research they made nickel silver items.
Thanks

Re: Scovills & Buckingham
Your question itself is a valid inquiry, but the sample images look like they are coming from an open current listing…just be sure this is not violating Rule 3 of “Dont’s”. Aside from that, everything available seems to indicate that the Scovills and their nephew Scovill Merrill Buckingham were engaged primarily in the brasswares industry (with silverplating a possibility). Even though the Sterling Flatware Fashions list has them under Silversmiths, I’d be inclined to want to see some real proof posted in a reliable source that tested the metals with midern methods just because of the preponderence of historical information that weighs against the ~90% “pure silver” claims.
