Russian Orhtodox Crosses

Post by Wizzadora »

Hello, we have these two crosses in the family and I am trying to identify them. Our family lived around the black sea, near present-day Gumushane and Trabzon, later moved to Tbilisi and Vladikavkaz. There is a chance these are Russian but also either Armenian or something else. Dated back to at least late 1800s-early 1900s but could be older. Can you help me identify them?

Hello! Both crosses were made in the Kostroma province of Russia.
1. 1899-1908 Silversmith "КИТ" (possibly K.I. Tropin)
2. 1908-1927, but more likely before 1917. Silversmith "АБ" (there are many candidates).
Products of Kostroma silversmiths were sold throughout the country, largely due to their low cost.
