Hello everyone,
what kind of silversmith could this be?
925 /STERLING FS / L eagle(?) R German, Franz Scheurle? If so, who does the second mark belong to?
Hi, welcome to the forum. The barrel shaped mark LR with an eagle in between is a Belgian retailer/maker's mark. LR for Jean Louis Roosen, working in Brussels, 25-5-1949- ca. 1971. Jean Louis Roosen uses his mark as a retailer when this German-made item was sold in his Brussels store
FS in oval for Franz Scheurle. In 1903 Franz Scheurle founded the "Silberwarenfabrik Franz Scheurle” in Schwäbisch Gmünd. At first, mainly handles for umbrellas and walking sticks were made, which had become fashionable due to the World Exhibition in Paris. In the 1920s he started making small silverware such as powder compacts. Under the leadership of his son Gerhard Scheurle, the design and production of jewelry was started. At first mainly men's jewelry, but later in the 1960s under the leadership of Franz Scheurle Jr. also jewelry and watches for the modern woman, mainly in silver. Later also in gold, platinum and stainless steel. It was based on Scandinavian and especially Finnish designs, which are characterized by simple, no-frills designs. Towards the beginning of the 1970s, the company was renamed Quinn, but it is still owned by the family (currently in the 4th generation). There has been some confusion internationally about the name Scheurle. The vintage jewelry is also known as Scheuerle sold with one too many "e"s in the name.

So...
things live their own very interesting lives and travel unknown paths around the world. It's very interesting to delve into their past.
These marks were on a cigarette box with a cedar interior.
