Norwegian sølje? Or possibly Danish?

Post by NorskyGal »

First of all, this looks like a very traditional Norwegian sølje to me. (I'm hoping it to be.) It's marked 830S GR or possibly 830S GB. It's hard to tell with the last letter overlaying the diagonal pattern of the piece. Either way, I can't find a Norwegian maker with either of those marks. I can, however, find both a GB and a GR maker's mark under the Danish section. ("GB" = George Binau of Copenhagen, 1893-1937; and "GR" = Gert Rasmussen of Copenhagen, 1983-1991.) The diameter of the piece is 1-⅜ inches. Is anyone familiar with Danish sølje as I only have one Danish piece and it's a very delicate piece with many "dangles." Or does anyone know which Norwegian maker this would be if Norwegian sølje?

In my eyes it looks like G.H. and is likely of Norwegian origin but? Looking at the punch it looks like rather recently made brooch. The maker could be Gunnulf Hegna in Oslo 1947-1997.
