Fake Mark??

Hello,
This silver tray bears marks by Gorham and retailer marks for Theodore B. Starr. I have been told that they are cleverly faked marks.
I just wonder if anyone has an opinion on if the marks do look to be fake? I am not an expert but to me they seem right.

Gorham's mark has had quite a history. It was good enough to end up in a court case. In my opinion it was not intended to totally imitate a Birmingham, England hallmark, but just needed to resemble the mark in order to cash in on the known quality of British silver. On this site alone it is still common to see posts about the Gorham mark having being mistaken for a genuine hallmark.

::::::::::: Some of the letters do seem a bit "wonky" like what is going on with the last "S" in "METALS" it does deserve much closer inspection and comparison with other known Gorham & Theodore B. Starr hallmarks ::::::::::::::::::: (additionally has anyone ever seen a "stippled surface" on the top of the tray as in this example? I've never seen that before in Gorham Mixed Metals trays)
