Discover the enchanting world of the royal court at 'Shine on Soestdijk'!
Step into the world of splendor and magnificence during the exhibition 'Shine on Soestdijk'. Until March 9, 2025, Soestdijk Palace will open its doors for an enchanting journey through the glorious history of the royal court. Admire the dazzling jewels and opulent ball gowns that bring the grandeur of the court to life. In the major winter exhibition 'Shine on Soestdijk', court life, combined with contemporary fashion, art and design, will be on display in detail.
Royal loans and refined tiaras
From glittering tiaras to elegant brooches, each jewel reveals a unique story of power, love and unparalleled craftsmanship. Soestdijk Palace is particularly proud of the loans from prominent institutions and private collectors for the exhibition 'Shine on Soestdijk'. The Royal Collections, the Diamond Museum Amsterdam, Paleis Het Loo and various private collectors have made exceptional pieces available for this purpose. Among the highlights are a special coat of Princess Juliana, dating from around 1930 and an elegant evening dress of Princess Beatrix. Princess Beatrix wore this dress during a ball at the Royal Palace Amsterdam on 9 March 1966, the evening before her wedding . Historical tiaras, worn during court balls, sparkle in the display cases. They have been made available by private lenders. Specially for the exhibition, René Brus has made refined replicas of the famous inauguration tiara of Queen Máxima and the complete Stuart tiara. Paleis Het Loo is making replicas of the ruby tiara of Mellerio and the impressive Württemberg tiara available. This gives visitors the chance to admire these showpieces up close and the attention to detail with which these jewels were made is made clear.
Art and design shine in the palace: fashion, jewellery, photography and more
In the large winter exhibition 'Shine on Soestdijk', court life, combined with contemporary fashion, art, design and photography, is brought to life in a narrative. There is work on display by many contemporary designers and fashion designers such as Benchellal, Claes Iversen, Iris van Herpen, Edwin Oudshoorn, Hans van Bentem, Verhoeven Twins, Dirk van der Kooij and House of Malakai. Their work literally shines in the palace. The exhibition features a large collection of photos by Patrick van Katwijk, photographer of the Royal House.
