Scottish Teapot?

Post by windag »

This is a puzzle (to me !) my first thought was Edinburgh but the date letter does not match and to me this is Victorian and a lack of a duty mark does not help, l have looked at provincial and possibly Canadian but to no avail.
The gauge is excellent and l have taken photos from the lid and underside, the makers mark is difficult to make out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Nigel

Hi,

Please embed your images as very few members will click on such links.

https://postimages.org (choose 'Share', then copy the 'Hotlink for forums' code) is recommended. Do not use Photobucket or Dropbox.

Hi Nigel,

Nice find! Not Victorian, but Georgian. Edinburgh 1771.

More research needed to identify the maker.

A possibility for the maker could be James Hewitt.
