English Trefid Spoon face motif 17th century?

Post by zeplinater »

Hello,

I would like some help placing this spoon. I believe it to be English late 17th century? The engraving looks correct to me. It also has a less than brilliant repair. It has an interesting face motif? Small sized.

Thank you

JC

:::: I found a French trefid spoon with a similar face on it, but it is a bit more ornate and has proper French marks. ::::::

:::: The end of the spoon is quite distinctive, is it possibly Frisian? ::::: Of course I've thought about Germany too, but I think the end of the spoon might indicate a Frisian origin, maybe? :::::::

::::: Do you think there is some sort of "runic script" encoded in the design? :::::

:::::: I really don't know if I am having pareidolia, like when you see symbols in rocks and clouds, but I wonder if that is a "cypher" of some sort? ::::
