Unknown marks on Pierced Shell Spoon(?) Ornate Fish Handle

Hi, hoping you all can help me solve a mystery. This piece measures 5.125" long, and the bowl of the spoon is 2.3" wide. There are two stamped marks in the curve of the bowl, towards the end. I have no clue if this is American or European, what metal it is, or even what the heck a pierced piece like this would be called.

Any information would be most appreciated. :)

Thank you! I notice that my topic was changed to the "German Silver" thread, so I went through all the German marks on this site and don't see it...I thought I had just missed it the first time.

So was the topic switched because the shape/design of the piece looks similar to some German pieces? Or ??

I'm not rushing anyone, just wondering if I'm totally dense and missing something (wouldn't be the first time).

Hello.

I did not move your post to German silver.

Those marks are possibly from a manufacturer in Hanau Germany.
Sorry, don't know who that is.
Doubt the shape/design of the piece prompted the move.

Hello, agree with Pat, smells like Hanau. Don't know the maker either. The "N" is supposed to imitate the old Nuremberg city mark. Best wishes, Bahner

Bahner, thank you so much. So it would probably be 800 silver? I've gone over every millimeter of this piece with a loupe and find no additional markings.
