Trying to date Los Ballesteros necklace ?

Post by rob h »

This 17 inch long los ballesteros necklace came with a matching unmarked bracelet. I would like help in estimating approximately when they were produced. The second round mark says "sterling" and a second unreadable word.

Thanks
Rob H

Hello.

Los Ballesteros began using your mark, on the left, around 1942.
Not sure how long it was used, at least into the 1980's.

Hi,
Just want to add that dating such pieces can be very problematic. If a style was a successful seller, its production could go on for decades. The lack of an eagle mark plus the simplistic hook catch hint at pre-1948 production. However, there is still a possibility that it could date from the 1970's when many makers tended to bypass eagle number stamping.

Regards, Tom
