Suckling Ltd Teaspoon date verification

Hello all,

I was looking at the makers marks on the website and found the one for
my teaspoon.
Am I reading this right:
Suckling Ltd Birmingham office Lion Passant 1855?

Suckling ltd is stated as being 20th century, and this is a wee bit before that...

I've got a matching set of these in the original box.

My books say 1931 for that font and shield shape.

None of my books go that modern...

Agree, Suckling Ltd, c.1920-1965, formerly William Suckling & Sons, 1895-c.1920.
