Sterling Silver Large Box - Cigar Box Maybe

Post by eglass »

Hello!

I have an interesting box lined in thin balsa type wood, marked "Sterling Silver 925" and with a mark I am unfamiliar with. It's very difficult to read the letter in the top arch of the mark, but below there are 3 stars and some sort of figure/item in the center.

Any clues for me? Excuse the unpolished silver, this is straight from an auction this afternoon and hasn't been cleaned up:

The box is about 7.5" long and 2.5" tall. Thank you so much for any help!

Hi Kelli,

I dont know the sizes of the box but maybe I could also have been used for playing cards like Skat.

Best regards
