Mexican Necklace Mark

Post by quentin52 »

I know almost nothing about this necklace. It does say Taxco, Sterling, .925, and have a mystery mark, in the center. I'm at a loss for the stones too, turquise, lapis? All help is appreciated. Thanks!

TAXCO STERLING 925

Post by silverport »

Hello

Sorry there fore that I'm not specialised in jewellery.

When I saw your question I've made the following for »First aid«:

In the upper part of »925-1000« screen is a sensible area, indicated »Search the Silver Forum« - I've made a "click" there and then came a new window. In this new window, in the first upper blank area, I've typed: Taxco

And then after I've made a "click" on »Search« key.

Then were presented - I guess - more then 100 topics where you could find - I think - already a lot of basic information, including on stones material.

I hope that this will help - like »First aid« would - until reliable answers on your questions come from other members.

Kind regards silverport

I have 2 of that same necklace but longer. The stone is Chrysocolla.

One says Mexico SHC 925, the other is stamped just as messy as yours but I can make out SHC 925 and Sterling, there is no SHC listed in the hallmark book but there are more unknown makers than known ones, (admin edit - see Posting Requirements)

With no eagle mark it likely dates pre-1948 but since there is so little room for a mark the eagle was sometimes left off.

Thanks for the help. Knowing better how to use the site and what kind of stones is a big help. Quentin
