This Mexican silver bib necklace came with paperwork:" Alonzo Silver Bib. Design is traditional 18th century Spanish and it has been reproduced by famed Taxco artisan Ballesteros. Design is given shape by Miguel Alonzo, who makes many of Ballesteros pieces. " Then it tells how he made & assembled this necklace.
It has the eagle mark #3 that I believe dates somewhere 1955-1980. I cannot find reference to the MP initials shown in the circle mark. How can I determine who actually made this? admin edit
Difficult to read one of the text marks, but I believe they both say "Hecho En Mexico", stamped in two different directions.
I have looked everywhere and can find no information at all on this necklace. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Charla,
I can't believe you got no replies. I just logged on to find out something and saw your question regarding your Bib Necklace. The silversmith is definately Miguel Alonzo - Silversmith for Los Ballesteros. The only problem you had was that the MA was struck lightly and the A looks like a P on your necklace. It looks like a P on his stamp which is listed on the front page of the Mexican Silversmith stamps on this web site. Hope you already have this information. Cheers, Catherine

Thank you "so much" Catherine. My post sat so long with many looks and no replies. I have searched for information on Miguel Alonzo and the pieces he made and have been unable to find anything. Would anyone have any idea where I might find information on other pieces he has made. Would he be considered an important designer.

Hi Charla,
If you do find any info on Miguel Alonzo works could you PLEASE let me know. My late wife bought me a "pill container/scent container" by him years ago before she passed away and have dug and tried but can not locate any info on him. I have found one or two of his works for sale online but nothing that I can use as info on mine. Mine has what looks like Mayan or Aztec markings on it and I would love to find info on it. Thanks and best of luck in your search as well. Michael
