Candle owner; 3 hallmarks; ant and BC; french?

Post by Silbersammler »

I have an Candle owner where I can`t identify the hallmarks, maybe I can get some help:

The first hallmark looks like an ant, the makers mark is BC and somewhat like a goat between.

There is another hallmark "PV 815 BC". According to my opinion this mark does not fit to the other marks, perhaps it was attached later.

I think, it is french, but had not found the marks on this side.

Thanks for your help.
Kind regards

Hi,
The beetle mark is in use in France since 1st July 1893 (Decree of 29th June, 1893) for articles of a minimum fineness of .800 (except watches) imported from the following countries : Aden, Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Columbia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, French Colonies, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Libya, Luxemburg, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Venezuela and Yugoslavia.
Since 1971 this mark has been struck on all imported articles, except watch cases.
