Snuff Box

Post by geheim »

Im a new English user with a love for American work. I have had my 20x loupe delivered today, and the use of a friends canon.
I know the dates are very hard to pinpoint. However is the makers mark New York, New England, or possibly French?

That rope punch mark is 4 leaves, almost impossible to see with a 20x in natural light, I tried my best to get the rope mark photgraphed with a 20x.
The 925 with either a double A or a double V inside the diamond insignia is a french benchmark. However I would still want to think I have an american made piece.

Thank you for any benchmarks you can provide, Im online for a bit, and I hope to help contribute to others by replying.

I still have not seen any messages on here, but that is what happen when you have a piece that is hard to find, and there is no reference material on the piece to begin with. I appreciate this site so much, that I have used for several years. I must say, I really did not have any expectations especially on this piece. However if anyone ever finds something, I have my emails set up for respones. I will be happy to respond to anything I see that I can help on also in the future. I also have another piece. However I will wait until I get a new refernce book I have just ordered. Books always seem to be the best reference.
