Hello, All,
After months of poring over posts, images, books online and in print, and auction sites galore, I'm breaking down and enlisting your aid in identifying these marks.
Pseudo-marks, if you will:
They are borne by each of the pieces in this set:
I'll spare you the twists and turns in my search except to say that each possible answer vaporized quickly on closer investigation. Not Glaswegian, nor from Sheffield or Birmingham, as far as I could determine. U.S. suspects included Shreve . . . the others are slipping my mind at the moment.
Thanks so much. I really enjoy reading all the other mysteries, solved and un-, on this board.

Update/Bump:
Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether this is silverplated? A friend who looked at the pieces recently said he saw the red of copper in them, and is convinced they are silver on copper. My red vision is defective (it doesn't jump out at me, and some pinks look beige or off-white).
Thanks!

Hi,
With the lack of any marks that would suggest an indication of purity, or a 925/sterling/something similar marking, I would go with them being silver plated.
However, to be certain, you could conduct a specific gravity test, see: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 30&p=25002" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thank you, Trev!
I will try to rig up some type of hydrostatic balance as soon as there's a bit of spare time.
Then will holler "Eureka" (the motto of my home state, in fact), but skip the streaking bit and merely walk to the computer to file a report in this thread.
