I am unable to identify an older item... two hallmarks and does it appear to be silver plate where the red arrow is pointing? I am new to this so do please pardon the nubee question!
Dear Jordan, I agree with Rauls interpretation. This kind of punch marks normally depict the silversmiths, or the silver workshops on oriental silver pieces, not a fineness mark. I don't know what caused the yellow color as pointed by the arrow head. As far as I know, traces of copper was added to craft silver articles in the oriental countries. Sometimes you get more or less copper appearance at the edge, but the fineness test always tells you that the purity is above .900. This is just my personal experience. I might be wrong.
