Radlpunze + AO

Post by silverfan »

Hello all,
big Austrian spoon with "Radlpunze" 1821 and - I suppose - F2 for a sub-assay-office of Brünn (now Brno), tax mark and maker's initials AO. Who is the maker and where it was assayed? All hints welcome.

This might well be by Anton Oberhauser (and his sons) from Vienna, who had a branch in Brünn from 1808 onwards (a "Jahrmarktshütte").

Can't help with the maker, but from 1807 to 1865, F2 was the code for the sub-office in Opava (German = Troppau), then part of Austrian Silesia and now part of the Moravian-Silesian region of Czech Republic, right on the Polish border.

Thanks joris and blakstone.
I didn't find anything about Anton Oberhauser (1777-1827), except that he was a Vienna silversmith.
Perhaps there was a Troppau silversmith AO too?!
