William Mannerback's son Levan was born in Pennsylvania in about 1808. He was also a jeweler in Reading. Levan's son William was born in Pennsylvania in about 1842. He was a watch repairer in Reading at least into the 1860's.

George Waterman is listed in the Albany Census in 1850 as a silversmith and in the 1860 and 1870 Albany Census's as a watchmaker.

Swank Inc's site mentions in the company's history that the Swank name was first used in a print advertisement for a men's collar holder in 1927,
but it was almost another decade before it became the corporate name.

Coincidently, Swank Products Inc shows up in the 1937-38 Attleboro, North Attleboro and Plainville, Massachusetts Directory, Sampson & Murdock Co, Boston, and it is not listed in the 1935 or earlier directories.

Daniel Mahony who was born in about 1853 in Massachusetts is listed
in the 1880 New York, New York census as a silversmith.

He is listed in the 1888 New York City directory as a
smith 121 Ninth Avenue.

Daniel J Mahony & Co smiths is first listed in the New York City
Directories in 1889 at 330 Seventh Avenue in.

Daniel J Mahony & Co sterling silverware manufacturers is listed
in the 1891 New York City Directory at 117 W 28th.

A sixteen year old Charles Shaver is listed as a silversmith in the 1850 Cenusus for Syracuse. He is listed as a silversmith in the household of silversmith Benjamin R Norton in the 1860 Syrucuse census.

For anyone that is curious about the full names of the two gentlemen in the mid nineteenth century Cazenovia, New York jeweler's partnership of Tracy & Hawley, it was Alexo Fayette Tracy and Oliver Andrew Hawley.

Joseph W Canneff is listed in the 1860 census for Tolelo, Ohio, born in New Brunswick in about 1826.

Listed in the 1860 Toledo Directory J W Canneff at 87 Summit dealer in clocks, watches, jewelry, musical instruments, &c.

Listed in the 1889-90 Toledo Directory Joseph W Canneff jeweler 139 Summit, Toledo, Ohio 1889-90

For Information wanted: A Joseph P Sidel who was born in Russia in about 1875 and immigrated to the U S in 1892 is listed as a silverware manufacturer in the Bronx, New York in 1920. In 1930 he is listed as a silver manufacturer in Cedarhurst, New York.

Theodore R Lafoy is listed on his own as a watchmaker with a retail jewelry, fancy and music store at 314 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey 1842-1854. In 1857 he is listed as a jeweler in New York City at 815 Broadway with the business name Ruth & Lafoy.

Coles & Reynolds:

The 3 May 1871 edition of the New York Herald announced that Gilbert E Coles and David J Reynolds had formed a copartnership, Coles & Reynolds. Their business was to continue the manufacture of silverware at the old stand, corner Franklin and Elm Streets, and they were to assume the accounts of McLoughlin, Coles & Co.


Trow's New York City Directory, H Wilson Compiler, 11 University Place 1876 lists Coles & Reynolds: Gilbert E Coles and David I Reynolds jeweler 23 Maiden Lane. Wilson's Business Directory 1877, Volume XXX The Trow City Directory Co, 11 University Place has the same information.

The information that is given in the American Silver Marks Alphabetical Listing of Maker's Names for James Munroe sounds like it fits John Munroe.
However, it is worth mentioning that John continued to be listed in Barnstable Directories as a dealer in watches in jewelery into the 1850's and that he is listed in the 1850 Census for Barnstable as a goldsmith.

James Munroe on the other may be the gentleman who is listed in New Bedford, Massachusetts directories from the 1830's into the 1870's under the headings of jewelry, chronometers and watches. He is also listed in the 1850, 60 & 70 Census for New Bedford as a silversmith and watchmaker.

For anybody looking into the Kansas City, Missouri jewelry firm of Cady & Olmsted, Ballenger and Hoye's Kansas' City Directory 1879 lists Lucius Cady and Charles N and George P Olmstead at 718 Main.

Hoye's City Directory of Kansas City, MO lists this trio at 718 Main until 1882.

Hoye's Kansas City Directory 1883 lists Lucius S Cady and George P Olmstead beginning in 1883 at 718 Main.

Lucius S Cady and George P Olmstead are listed together in Kansas City, Missouri as jewelers until at least 1897.

J Stuart MacDonald who was born in about 1850 in Pennsylvania is listed in the 1880 Woods Baltimore Directory as a dealer in jewelry, watches and silverware at 5 North Charles.

Just to add a little bit more information about Guy Loomis, he was listed as a jewelry peddler during the American Civil War period, and in 1870 he is listed as a watch peddler.

Another Providence Gorham jeweler:

In 1850 Charles F Gorham is listed in the home of Jabez Gorham with the occupation jeweler.

He is later listed as a jeweler on his own in Providence, and in the 1858
Providence Directory is listed in the partnership Gorham & Yerrinton
on Friendship at the corner of Dorrance.

In 1860 Charles F is listed as a manufacturing jeweler.

In 1862 Charles F is listed in the partnership of Gorham, Clark & Co, and
R L Allen is listed with them. They were jewelers in the Dean Building.

In 1863 Charles F is listed in the partnership Gorham & Allen at the
Dean Building. In 1864 Charles F is in the same partnership at 5
Friendship.

In 1885 there is a Charles F Gorham & Co jewelry enamelers at 40
Clifford, Providence, Rhode Island.

G A Mudge & Co is listed in Boston Directories from 1861 to 1868.

George A Mudge is listed as a jeweler and silverware dealer in Boston under the preceeding firm name, in at least one other partnership, Mudge & (Marshman W) Sanborn and on his own from at least 1860 to 1872.
