Dear gentlemen,
you were not „in tune“ at the end of of my f i r s t (!) article in this forum:
„Russian napkin rings – trompe l'oeil“, posted on the 14 th january 2022.
At that time I asked you to be a little bit more polite to each other.
Today nearly we have a simular situation.
I benefit from your knowledge, even if you are not quite sure!
There would be no forum “925-1000.com” if we already knew everything.
Today I want to show you a picture from my archiv, which shows Alma Pihl in the workshop of Tillander, the one of the two female designers at Fabergé.
(source: Ulla Tillander-Godenhielm - author: Jewels from Imperial St Petersburg, London 2014)
Ulla Tillander-Godenhielm – great-granddaughter of St. Petersburg goldsmith Alexander Tillander, a supplier to the imperial court – has spent many years studying the art of the St Petersburg jewellers.
She once said:
„If there is anything like a goldsmith's gene. Alma Pihl surely posessed it.“
Perhaps Alma has aqiured a practical training. I can't say that for sure.
My foto is a single document that shows how a woman at that time could p e r h a p s train as a goldsmith.
Please note:
I am not claiming, that Alma Pihl was a workmaster!!!
Please smile!
Kind regards
Silverstone
