On site a picture of a 1865 chocolate pot bought for a couple of pounds at local boot sale.

Manufactures mark GH london touch mark.

Can someone tell me who made it and is it worth anything?

Hi-Without a photo of the marks, identification would be iffy at best. Can you post one? Also, does the finial on the lid swing aside or is it hinged? If not, it is probably a coffee pot as chocolate pots would have this feature so that the stirrer could be inserted.

Since your reply I've had another look and thanks for coming back to me.

The lid is marked GH with a lion. The lid is also hinged

The body of the pot is not a London mark as I thought but one of Sheffield, so the marks run GH followed by Sheffield Crown followed by a lion then the K for 1902 sorry about misinformation. Just shows how much I know. Unable to post pics of marks as my PC is in for repairs at present. This is a friends PC.

Thanks for the added info. GH is possibly for Harrison Bros. & Howson , a maker of table plate in Sheffield whose mark was entered in 1897. The piece used as a example in Jackson was made in 1902. Hope this helps.

Marks used:- HH, HB&H (these markings were usually on the silver plate), GH

Trademark:- a five point crown

Originally known as Harrison Brothers (from 1849) this Sheffield manufacturer took on Howson as a partner in 1862. The majority of flatware produced by them was EPNS, however some silver items can be found. They also produced good quality cased sets of carvers, fruit eaters and fish eater/server sets. They still trade today.
