Small Gold Spoon - London?

Attached are two pics of a 4 1/2" gold spoon. The hallmarks are so hard to read (even with my magnifying glass). On the reverse it has two sections with hallmarks. The first I believe is: S with a centered dot and the XP. The second which is much harder to read has 3 sqaures. The first square may be a duty mark (can't tell for sure). The second square is definately a Lion. And the third square has a M.
There is one spot on the spoon (towards the handle where there is the face of a dog) where it looks like the "gold" has rubbed off.
Any ideas?

Hi,

I suspect you have a silver-gilt anointing spoon, a popular gift at christenings, especially during the the early part of the twentith century.
