Help with hallmarks and what this is???

Hi. This is my first post and I am hoping that someone may be able to help me.

I inherited this object this week and have started trying to research it. So far I think I have ascertained that it is sterling silver and from London (leopard's head) but am not quite sure on the date or the maker's mark. There are two hallmarks. One for the bottom part and another for the top. I have posted photos of both.

Also I am not too sure what it is. It looks like a hip flask but I wouldn't think it would've been used as such as it is made also from glass/crystal.

Can anyone help??

Thanks
Keren

The maker is Mappin & Webb, the dates are 1904/5 (i) and 1905/6 (k)

If that bottom section slips off then it is designed to be the cup! You may find it's gold coloured inside...gilded or gold washed..this is common where the silver is used for eating or drinking something which may stain or corrode the silver...just my tuppence worth pal!!!

Thanks for the replies Nigel and treefish.

To my uneducated eye the "k"'s from the different era's started to look the same, lol.

And I haven't tried to see if the bottom comes off. I will have to check it out.

Cheers

To my mind it is a hip flask, still, clearly designed to be carried around
and deep colour of the booze to be appreciated by lucky huntsman.
I find it quite common for parts of e.g.tea sets to have different date letter, the reason being that large silversmith like Mappin & Webb would process their silverware in bulk at the Assay office, then it would be assembled in-house and left to stand and mature for years sometimes until sold.
The hammered, Arts and Crafts type top part of this flask seems to be particularly nice. I hope the cork inside is good and tight so you may enjoy your tipple in horizontal position.
