Hi, I have this sort of modern design sterling ring that I could use a bit of help with. It's got the 925 mark with the woman, along with another mark that kind of looks like cyrillic to me, but?? Does anyone recognize either of these marks? TIA for any help!

I think the fingerring is from Greece.
The lady on the hallmark looks like Athene (greek goddess) and the letters also look of greek origin (cyrillic letters).
Unfortunately there is no hallmarking convention in greece at all and I'm not able to read cyrillic, so I can't tell you the maker's name.

I think the letters resemble more like the Russian alphabet, and I read "ALGE" (letter-to-letter)

Those letters are used by many Soviet union countries both former and current. Hope that helps.

The mark is Russian and very much resembles the kokoshnik assay mark used from 1908-1917, however the 925 standard and style of the ring date it to recent manufacture.
After the revolution and until 1958, the head was that of a workman with a hammer below, after 1958 the workman's head was replaced by the Soviet hammer & sickle in the mark. I do not know for sure, but I suspect that after "glasnost" the Soviet symbolism was dropped and they may have gone back to the girl's head pictured in your mark. Certainly, the use of the 925 sterling standard is a fairly late development in Russia.

In case you are still wondering about your mark (this post was just brought to my attention via google alerts) you might like to know that your mark is indeed Russian, post 1992, and was assayed in St. Petersburg. The maker's mark confirms that the assay is St.Petersburg, stamped in 2001.As for the maker, there is a location on the Russian Assay Authority website that might list it but it is in Russian. That is all I can provide at the moment.
