Can anybody identify this maker's mark? It's on the back of what I take to be a serving spoon with a large, round bowl - the spoon is about 8" long. It is followed by the word "STERLING".

I'm pretty sure this is Watson, but I am not finding a match for this pattern. It looks very similar to others that were made around 1890-95, but like I said I haven't been able to name. it. I'll keep looking meanwhile

the pattern does look a whole lot like Wts34 at Replacements.com, but strikes me as a more delicate rendition. (perhaps an artifact of the camera(s) used?)
Also, the Watson pennant shown in the Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks is facing the opposite direction. Is it common (or even known?) for a maker to reverse his mark?

Watson made a lot of unnamed non line pattern designs, I don't find yours in my references either. Not common, but have definitely run across other pieces with the maker's mark mistakenly reversed in the die.

I think you hit it on the nose with number 34. Although I think that the number itself is meaningless. Probably means the 34th pattern that Replacements came across that they couldnt name.
