Small cigarette case

Hi Everyone,
I've had this very small cigarette case since 1985. It was my grandfathers, who was English, and so I'd always assumed that it too was English. Fast forward 2008 and I've finally decided to try and track down where it was made and who made it.

Anyway, as the pictures show, it can only hold 4 non-filter cigarettes. It appears that the makers mark is F.B.R and that it's 925 sterling. I've done a bit of a search of this site and found reference to F.B.R being F.B. Rathcke from Denmark, but it doesn't have the associated Danish assay mark so it may not be Danish. It also has the date letter d in an oval, but without an understanding of where it's from that doesn't help much.

Anyway, any information that you can provide on where it’s from, who made it and when would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Noel,

Welcome to the Forum.
They are British import marks, they indicate that your cigarette case was imported into Great Britain via the Glasgow assay office in 1926.

FBR is the sponsor's mark of the Glasgow importer, not a Danish maker.

PS I posted a follow up question with a couple of links from external sites, hence the smack from the admin, but they did answer my question which I'm very grateful for. Thanks again.
