I have an estate Rosary I will pass onto my son. Here are shots of the reverse of the crucifix and the hallmarks, as well as the whole item as required. Anyone know anything?

what leads you to believe that it is Quebecois or Canadian?

The suggestion I made is a guess based on this blog entry that refers to PL being a type of old Quebec Rosary.

I have no independent expertise, and have searched all the hallmark sites to no avail.

If you have any leads, I'd be pleased to hear them. The Rosary will be a confirmation gift to my son.

Thanks.

PS Both Birks and Creed say it's not theirs.

Hi, Could your third picture be a lion's head inside the letter "C"? The Canadian national sterling mark was instituted in 1934 (per Dorothea Burstyn). On July 1, 1978, the mark was changed to a maple leaf surrounded by the letter "C".
Your rosary was made between 1934 and 1978. Perhaps you could contact the blog owner, and ask what he/she knows about the maker, "PL". Hope this helps.
Best wishes, TD

It certainly does help, yes!

I supposed it could be a lion. Hard to tell as wear has occurred. The blog has apparently been abandoned and efforts to contact the owner thus far have failed. You kind folks are my last stop it seems.

I'll keep looking of course. If anyone else knows of this PL mark, let me know.

(I searched the Canadian online trademark database to no avail).

Again - thanks!
