I would love any information on this maker, I can't find any info on the web. I have tried searching Hale and get nothing related to it, and when I try Male I get too many responses. Thanks, this is my first post ever. Jeff :o)

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. That's a beautiful example of the work of Frank Gardner Hale (1876-1945), an important American Arts & Crafts jeweler & silversmith. Can you add a shot of the enamel panel in the lid, would love to see it. There is plenty of info on Hale search his full name quoted, the best info is here at ->

Hello Pedro and Tom-
What do you think the metal is? looks hammered, could it be silver plated copper? either way it is a great looking piece.

It is a gorgeous piece, the enamel inset depicts a Viking ship, the owner believes it to be sterling, but it's not marked and I would also supect that it might be plated copper.
