Hoping for an ID and possible dating on this silver rimmed opalescent open salt, the initials are EP and what I can make out of the symbol, appears to be a 5-pointed star over something. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

Hi Cheryl.
Just offering a possibility, not sure.
Emile Prost, 12 rue d"Enghien, Paris.

I think the Emile Prost mark dates to before 1913.
Ernest Prost entered his E. Prost over a fork mark in 1913.
Ernest was also located at 12 rue d"Enghien, Paris, so I'm assuming he suceeded Emile.

Thanks Pat! The symbol under the star appears to be rather long and slender, the marks are pretty bad on this one, with the Minerva head so rubbed that it's barely recognizable, believe it's 2nd standard, but really hard to tell.

Hi,
This might be a little late but, the mark you have is that of Ernest Prost who was registered as a jeweler at 7 rue Reaumur in Paris from 1923 to 1963. The mark is a star above a garter. The French reference number ofr this jeweler is PG005906
Cheers

Thanks, Monte. The image remaining on this post is one from Pat's files - will have to dig through my external hard drive, but pretty sure I still have the images of the item and mark, or can take new pics since the salt is still in my Mom's collection...
