Hi, can someone please tell me if the inscription on my cuff is a written language? It is the same on top as the bottom. The cuff is stamped on front with the cat, a ^. and a mark above, and the date hallmark is a crescent moon on its side like a smile. I looked at the "World Marks" (thank you) and could tell it was Egypt and either 800 or 900 (?)
Thanks,
marjar

There are no letters or words on this piece. Those slashes and dashes seem to be just decorative. There is not a letter showing. If you assumed it was Arabic. It's not. Could be Egyptian, not very old 10-20 years.

Assuming it's Egyptian (and the mark makes it appear so), wouldn't it have to be at least as old as 1946 [when they switched from the cat to the lotus]?

Hi, if you haven't received another reply, it is 800 grade silver. The workmanship of your bracelet somewhat resembles the workmanship of Tuareg bracelets. If silver pieces that were made elsewhere were sold or re-sold in Egypt, they usually had/have to be hallmarked with the Egyptian hallmarks, as Egypt required it to confirm the silver grade/quality of something sold there. I had an older Moroccan Tuareg bracelet with both the original Moroccan mark and a later (but like yours) pre-1947 Egyptian cat hallmark. The Moroccan marks on my bracelet were worn and only just decipherable after many decades, but the Egyptian marks were clear.
