Hello, these are Austrian import marks. The “AV” was in use since 1872. There should be a small letter in the upper left hand corner, documenting the assay offiec. “A” e.g. would be for Vienna. I cannot really see a letter here. The “A 10” is for the assay office at Troppau. The 13 might stand for the Lötigkeit, but it could also be a pattern number or a mark added by the importer. Best wishes, Bahner

Thank you Bahner, there is no letter in this case. I browsed my literture and found out that AV without the letter was used a little earlier than the year given by you. When I come back home I will post exact dates.
I really appreciate your help in determing the assey office as Troppau (Opava). This really helps.
Regards,
jack

according to my literture import mark AI without the asseyer office was used from 1866 to 1872. The city letter was added in 1872 and was used until 1901. In 1902 import mark was modified (eagle was added on the top) to prevent forgeries and was used until 1920.
