Hi Floks. Does anyone have an idea if this is Sterling at all and from where? On the left it says GAB, then some kind of a drawing which I cant figure and a letter M.

Thanx in advance - TAL

I think your cakestand, or what we should call it, is Swedish. The middle mark looks like S:t Erik, the symbol for Stockholm. It's a young man with long hair and a crown. GAB is a large manufacturer of gold and silver (jewellery, hollowware and flatware) in Stockholm. They also produce silver plated objects, which this is, if I am right. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think "M" stands for brass (mässing in Swedish), which is the most common material to be silver plated in Sweden, or at least used to be. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. These cakestands are very common, but decorative.

Thank you so much,
