This candle holder was made by Stuart Devlin, London, 1972.
What do we call the technique used to make the gold lamp-shades ?



This might be a simple question for our knowledgeable group here.
Just thought I'd share an interesting piece.

Looks like a skein weave.

I'm not real sure what a skein weave is. Think it is sort of a pattern.
Although it's not the term we are looking for, believe we are headed in the right direction here.

A lot of the old pieces made with this technique came from Germany.

I don't know that I would say filigree, if that's where you were going. A skein weave is how fish nets are worked.

The book does call them "gold filigree lamp-shades".
