Hello everyone.

I bought this small Hanau bowl recently.
Has both Roth and Kurz pseudo marks.
Wondering if anyone recognizes the third mark on the right.

Thanks for your help Koen. Does look like the mark in my copy of Tardy's.

Maybe Kark Kurz was working earlier than we thought (1877).

I'm not so sure that this is the Belgian import mark. Besides the dating problem - Kurz was not working as early as 1868, nor does the piece seem to be stylistically that early - there are problems with the mark itself. It is missing the star which appears between the lower to bars of the "E", and the cornucopia which should be in the vertical bars on the left. The drawing in Tardy is not very detailed; there's a good photo of the Belgian mark in van Dievoet's Geschiedenis en de Officiele Merken van de Keurkamers voor de Waarborg van Goud en Zilver in Belgie van 1794 tot nu and it seems pretty clear from the illustration there that this mark, while similar, is not the same and therefore probably another psdeudomark.

I'll can scan and post the genuine mark for comparison if anyone is interested.

Hello Blackstone.

The dates did concern me here.

I don't have access to the reference you mention.
All I have is the drawing in Tardy's, and, as you say, it's not very clear.
A scan of the Belgium mark would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Here you go; I've posted them side-by-side so for comparison. As you can see, while similar, they are not the same mark. The authentic mark did come in a smaller size, but the details were exactly the same as this one.
