I came across this broken hand mirror with the Levi and Salaman Birmingham stamp. But everything I have learned on this wonderful site tells me the letter "A" in that cartouche should not be capitalized. Am I mistaken?

Hi,
I'm not sure what date you were thinking about, but I suspect you thought it was 1900. The date mark on this item is for 1925.

thats what had me confused because I thought L&S only operated until 1910 or so. Was the hallmark in use after that?

Hi,
The firm was known as Levi & Salaman until 1910, in that year the original Mr Levi died, and the business converted into a limited liability company, known as Levi & Salaman Ltd. In 1921 they amalgamated with Barker Brothers, but your piece proves the mark was still in use in 1925 at least.
