Dear members,

I have a mustard pot with several hallmarks. I cannot find any of these marks but it looks scandinavian to me. Can anyone help me identifying
the hallmarks ?

many thanks in advance

Hi Suomoo,

It is Norwegian. I checked Norske sølvstempler gullsmedhåndverk i byene på Østlandet før 1870 by Jorunn Fossberg, 1994, Universitetsforlaget, Oslo, but no match
.

Hi again,

Sorry, when I saw the "Pröve-mark", I was absolutely certain that it was Norwegian. I have never seen this one on Danish silver before. Bøje mentions it on silver objects from Copenhagen used in the middle of the 19th century by the masters themselves.

The maker is Ebbe Olaus Lüster in Aarhus, Denmark, born in 1788, master on 28 Jan 1817 . His son Carl L (mentioned as a watchmaker) works in the workshop from 1847. Ebbe Olaus Lüster died in 1880 and he is listed in Chr. A. Bøje's Danske guld og sølvsmedemærker för 1870, Politiken forlag 1954.

Hope this helps.
