Hi, can anyone identify the maker mark and date on this silver edged wallet please?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
The diamond mark indicates the item was imported and assayed in Birmingham. The lower case "e" is for the assay year 1904-5. The .925 mark confirms the item meets the Sterling standard.
I suspect the sponsors were Danziger & Isaacs who registered a mark at the Chester office in 1909 similar to the one here. They are known to have been importers in Birmingham but unfortunately I don't have detail of when or if they registered a mark at their local office.

Danziger & Isaacs (Henry Emmanuel Isaacs) were recorded at 41, Frederick Street, Birmingham, in 1892 and at 9, Vyse Stret, Birmingham in 1900.

They had a London branch at 84, Hatton Garden and moved to 26/27 Hatton Garden in 1910.

The last recorded partner was Arthur Danziger Isaacs in 1911.

Danziger & Isaacs of 53, Frederick Street, Birmingham are recorded in 1880 as being Diamond Merchants and Precious Stone Dealers.

William & Isidor Danziger of 71, Corporation Street, Manchester, are listed, in 1880, as Foreign & Fancy Goods Importers.

Adolph Danziger of 21, Holborn Viaduct, London EC. is listed, again in 1880, as a Diamond Merchant.

I appreciate the info you have provided, I am not sure what it all really means though..... Does it mean that my item was actually made in 1904?

Hi Sharon,

It means that the silver pieces on your wallet were assayed at Birmingham in 1904-5. The wallet is not of British manufacture and was imported into this country. The actual date of manufacture is likely to be only a little earlier.

The information on Danziger & Isaacs, is for those of us who have an interest in the history of such companies.
